Roland “Rex” Rexha is the Union’s Secretary-Treasurer. Born and raised in New York City, Rex is a first-generation American (his family escaped Communist Albania in search of the American Dream). A graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Rex joined the M.E.B.A. in 2005 where he sailed Deep-Sea with the Union as an engineer for years on Interlake, Central Gulf, APL, Keystone and Patriot vessels. Rex then went to Staten Island Ferry where he sailed for over a decade eventually becoming a Staten Island Ferry M.E.B.A. Representative in 2015. He was instrumental in bringing attention to M.E.B.A. inland groups (S.I. Ferry Washington State Ferries, Cape May-Lewes Ferries, etc.).
